GDS Holdings Limited Starts Construction of its 5th Data Center in Shanghai

- Strategically located to meet fast-growing demand from FSI customers -

 

Shanghai, China, July 5, 2017 — GDS Holdings Limited (“GDS Holdings”, “GDS” or the “Company”) (NASDAQ: GDS), a leading developer and operator of high-performance data centers in China, today announced that it has started construction of its 5th self-developed data center in Shanghai (“SH5”). The data center will have an IT capacity of 4,734 square meters, to be developed in 2 phases, and is targeted mainly at financial service institution (“FSI”) customers. SH5 is located in the Tangzhen district of Shanghai where there is a concentration of FSI processing centers. It is also close to the Company’s highly successful Waigaoqiao data center campus, where more than 100 blue-chip FSI customers are currently co-locating their critical IT systems. SH5 Phase 1 is scheduled to come into service in the first half of 2018.

 

“We are excited to add a new project in Shanghai, SH5, to our high-performance data center portfolio,” stated Mr. William Huang, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GDS Holdings. “Strategically located within a cluster of bank and credit card processing centers, SH5 will enable us to grow our ecosystem of FSI customers, while also fulfilling fast-growing demand from our existing FSI customers. The project will add over 15% to our total capacity in the Shanghai market and further strengthen our market leadership position.”
